夏天盛產蟶子, 生曬至入秋後成為蟶子乾。蟶子肉含豐富蛋白質、鈣、鐵、碘、 硒、維生素A等。中醫認為蟶子肉味甘鹹、性寒,入心、肝、腎經,功效補陰虛,清熱,除煩。治產後虛損,煩熱口渴,濕熱水腫,痢疾。漁民認為煎炒煮炸煲湯粥麵飯皆宜。
